Interwiew: Busquets and Pedro

Edit: Okay, about whether the interview is legit. First I'd like to say if it were just random quote I came across online, I wouldn't have bothered to post it, let alone to translate it, for its dubious credibility. Now, I can't say every line in this interview is exactly how it's originally said (the "original" is a translation itself, after all) or that the reporter didn't change or twist something when he was happily transcribing. But the magazine is a pretty serious one. It's a member of the European Sports Magazines and partners to Frace Football, Don Balon etc...I know I know, it doesn't mean they don't write bullshit at all, and I have to say it can be biased or ill-informed in its commentaries as every other sports paper/mag. But as far as interviews go they're quite decent. They have reporters working in Europe to conduct the interviews personally. That's why I believe they at least didn't make the whole interview up. I'll just add the pics that come with it (sorry for the crappy quality, that's what happens when you don't have a scanner) - I'm willing to believe they're taken at this particular interview, but if someone know otherwise please tell me. Then I can delete this whole post because god knows I'd be GLAD if Busquets and Pedro didn't say this whole bunch of rubbish after all.

And for those who doubt if European players do interviews with Asian media - yes they do. I know a Japanese mag ran a column to which a few RM players took turn to contribute - probably written by their PR people, but still a Japanese fan said they were fun to read, as there were usually some anecdotes that weren't seen elsewhere, and it read like the players were talking a little more freely than they do to the local press.

Edit II: In response to some of the comments - just because it's a "random Chinese magazine" doesn't automatically makes it a big fat unscrupulous liar. And I repeat: yes European players do give interviews to the Asian press. But no, there's no proof in the form of audio or video or whatever of whether the interview is legit or not. The most I can tell you about this magazine is as I've said above. It's up to you to decide.

***

I'm so getting over the clasicos already, but then there's this interview in a newly released issue of a football magazine, which is...well, let's just say it's a terrific read when you're really bored, coz it makes you laugh, yell, swear, face palm, tear at your hair, have an urge to throw something out of the window and stab at your pillow all at the same time.

In this exclusive interview with Football Weekly, two lovely souls that are senor Sergio Busquets and senor Pedro Rodriguez have something very insightful to say on the criticisms against them after the clasicos, Real Madrid and their NT teammates...

*Original in Chinese, translated by moi
**This is not the full translation of the interview, as 1) I'm to lazy to do so and 2) there're things that are irrelevant to the clasico topic. But to each question the answers are translated fully. So nothing is taken out of context.

I mean, seriously? )

sepp to stepp down??

Sepp Blatter will make way for a successor as FIFA president in four years' time if he is re-elected in June, he has announced.

Blatter is seeking a fourth term as FIFA president and is being challenged by Asian confederation chief Mohamed Bin Hammam.

The 75-year-old told UEFA's Congress in Paris on Tuesday that if he wins he will definitely stand down in 2015, saying: "You know very well that I am a candidate for the next four years as FIFA president but these will be the last four years for which I stand as a candidate."
He added: "Together we have the task of bringing together the adventure we have started.
"We want to ensure a better future for our youth."

The new president will be elected at a Fifa Congress which starts on 31 May.

With Bin Hammam vowing to increase Fifa's decision-making power and spread its considerable wealth, Blatter is facing his first challenge since Issa Hayatou took him on - and lost - in 2002.

Bin Hammam is also currently attending the Congress for European football's governing body, Uefa, as they lobby federation presidents for their vote on 1 June in Zurich.
Uefa members make up more than one quarter of the maximum 208 Fifa voters that Blatter and Bin Hammam will attempt to woo.
The winner needs a two-thirds majority of valid votes cast in the first ballot, or a majority in the second.

Fifa has set an 1 April deadline for other candidates to be nominated by a single member federation.
"We are in extra time," said Blatter, referring to the time left before the election. "Let's wait and see what the outcome will be."

THE VERY SEKRIT DIARIES OF SHABBY ALONE-SO.

Are you there God? It’s me, Xabi.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

It’s been 214 days, 5,136 hours, 308,160 minutes or 18,489,600 seconds since I left England and in all honesty diary, I can’t take it. I am trying so hard to make this work but there is nothing but a deep chasm in my heart that is forever Liverpool. I am reading up on Eternal Return and the idea makes my heart heavy with sadness. The cyclic revolution of the universe, with its limited state coinciding with the steady marching on of time means that I will have to endure this depression over and over and over again.

As Nietzsche states, “Now, however long a time may pass, according to the eternal laws governing the combinations of this eternal play of repetition, all configurations which have previously existed on this earth must yet meet, attract, repulse, kiss, and corrupt each other again...”

I cannot cope with this.

It may look, to the passive, unassuming viewer on my life that I am happy. You may look at pictures of me
hugging and cherishing my current teammates and appearing happy and at one with my family on the streets of Madrid. But only you dear diary, know my inner torment. It simply cannot be endured. But yet it must be. Facades must be maintained, and true feelings must be repressed, and instead I must content myself with looking at pictures of my beloved and our team on Daylife and GettyImages and wishing, praying, hoping that I was still there.

Sigh.

Xabi in El Pais

El Pais published a looooooong interview with Xabi today. Some human-translated, Liverpool centric excerpts, courtesy of laliga_news on Twitter:

The time spent I in Liverpool marked me. Beyond football, beyond the memorable CL victory in 2005.
Anfield is the temple of football. For me it is the most wonderful stadium in the world.
Liverpool it's what it is thanks to its people, they suffered greatly during the Thatcher years & are used to fighting for what they believe in. Their spirit is contagious.

just another wank post

SAMUEL ETO’O: “WHEN RONALDINHO MOVED TO BARÇA THEY DIDN’T WIN ANYTHING. WHEN I MOVED THERE WE WON EVERYTHING”.

Also,
“when Guardiola said he wanted me gone, Messi went to see him and told him “you can choose any other player in the team, but please, not Samuel".

modesty is just a matter of opinion )

Probably the biggest wank to make first page on EMD. =_='' First time posting so mods if you decide it's too wanky I won't blame you, please, go ahead and delete everything ;DDD

Also, anybody else thinks success went to this guy's head? Also, does he have a not so secret crush on Messi???

mod/maude/mawd post

-use the tags! the brightest minds of the comm all came together to make them lolzy and relevant so it's all ;_; when the posts don't have tags because then how will people look for things more easily?

-content fatigue: basically, y'all don't have to post every little thing that happens with regard to cescgate, ronaldo's baby or the spanish NT on vacation. seriously. unless the baby starts shitting gold or fabregas announces that he's retiring and giving money away to spurs fans to atone for making us miserable or something MAJUH like that try to chill with those topics.

-use the lj-cut: just use the damn thing for multiple photos, or at least resize the one massive picture into something a little smaller.

-i'm gonna be blunt here, some of you have been leaving some questionable comments and i feel this is something one should learn at 11 but w/e, let me say it: gay is not another word for bad/stupid/ugly. quit it.

ps now it's a real mod post

I have one thing to say...

fist & foreskin

Often, pop culture draws upon itself for inspiration.

However, some would argue that when uncredited, a more appropriate term for this "inspiration" is "rip off." A fine and treacherous line it seems to be!

Discuss whether Saturday Night Live and Jon Hamm "ripped off" or drew "inspiration" from Spanish soccer player Sergio Ramos Garcia.

Turn your papers in on my desk with your name and student number in the top left corner.

NO LO COMPRENDO

I think lil' Niki is having some sort of an identity crisis. But I guess this is the guy who has played for Arsenal, PSG, Real Madrid, Liverpool and Chelsea. I'm not overly surprised...

Chelsea's Anelka: I am not a striker

Nicolas Anelka doesn't regard himself as a striker.

"I played as a centre forward with Arsenal and scored lots of goals so everybody thinks that’s my best position, but I don’t," the Chelsea striker told Icon magazine.

"For me, football’s not about scoring goals. I play because I want to enjoy myself on the pitch. If I have a chance then great, but my main aim is to play well.

"That’s where I differ from real strikers. If I went through an entire game and scored in the 85th minute, I wouldn’t be happy." (Source)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Maybe he is feeling a bit of pressure because of his recent goal drought. Ronaldo also matched him as the league's top scorer this weekend. Whatever, football isn't about scoring goals anyways...

ALSO IN THE NEWS: A Charlton Villa (who?) player gets booked for passing gas while a guy took a penalty. Hehehheheeehe that's yucky!!! Read about it here.

(no subject)

So my question is, how do we prevent/minimise queefing when fingering or fisting from that position?
