So today (February 2) is the day that winter transfer window closes. And let's face it, summers transfers are way more fun and worrying.

But anyway, what are your thoughts about this window? Has your club signed someone useful (or useless)? Have they missed out on any special player that you had your eye on? Any news/hopes/dreams about summer transfers? And while we're on the subject, what were the best transfers made by your club? Any shocking ones? Ones that made you weep or cheer or laugh?

There are tissues for tears and champagne for celebration available (silly, I know.)

Something worth reading (and I agree):

How much does the January transfer deadline day matter?

To keep track of things:

The Telegraph's live thread for deadline day.

The Independent's live thread.

The Guardian's live thread.

The BBC's live thread.

Also, if you're bored, let's make this a regular FFA.

Some news!

Inter Milan has officially signed Xherdhan Shaqiri!

Also:

Lukas Podolski has revealed Arsene Wenger declined to even say goodbye before he completed his loan move from Arsenal to Inter last week.

Podolski elected to join the Nerazzurri for the rest of the season after becoming disillusioned with a lack of opportunities at the Emirates Stadium this season, having made just 13 appearances in all competitions.

And the Germany international, who scored 19 goals in 60 appearances over two years at Arsenal but never managed to gain the trust of Wenger as a regular starter, has now accused the Frenchman of a lack of respect.

"He said nothing to me," Podolski told the Sun. "He did not call me or say goodbye.

"I don't need flowers or a kiss from him. But it is about respect, about saying goodbye. For me respect is important. Maybe he had other problems with me.

"I did everything for the club I possibly could have. I don't believe I did anything wrong. I did not get drunk in a club.

"I wish all of Arsenal and their amazing fans the very best for this season and I see myself as a Gunner. Nothing from him to me, though, but that is his way."

I don't know what to say but this is The Sun that's reported this so I won't believe it fully.

Also, I was going to do a transfer rumor roundup but I've fallen sick so I hope y'all don't mind waiting.

And also:

Departing Liverpool star Steven Gerrard will join the LA Galaxy on an 18-month contract, a source close to the deal told ESPN FC's Jeff Carlisle.

The defending Major League Soccer champions will add the midfielder after the Premier League season ends on a pro-rated deal worth $6 million (3.9 million pounds) a year. The Washington Post earlier reported details of the contract.

The MLS Board of Governors approved the deal because the league will pick up $750,000 of Gerrard's deal, the source said.

An MLS representative told ESPN FC the league is "not able to provide additional insight into a potential player agreement."

Gerrard will help fill the void in the Galaxy midfield left by longtime Galaxy star Landon Donovan, who retired last month after LA won the MLS Cup. (Haha, then Stevie's a fantastic buy.)

Since the transfer window has opened and all of us will be be running the whole gamut of emotions, this is really our last chance to enjoy a day. Especially if you're a United fan because Ed Woodward will no doubt wait till Feb 1st to announce any signings.

So who do you guys want/need signed to your club?

Who do you want out of your club?

Who is leaving your club and you're having trouble coping?

How are you reaching out to players? Twitter, Facebook, IG, their WAGs IG (No, I'm not ashamed)?

Let's post potential signings stats, pics, vids to see ourselves through, especially if Real Madrid has personally offended you by being linked to the player you want.

I'm hoping for:

When the producers of soon to be released animated film The Pirates! needed a voice actor to dub the Albino Pirate character into Spanish, the only logical choice was Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta. Sure, he's not a voice actor, but the character's name is Albino. It had to be Iniesta.

In the behind the scenes video above, we see Iniesta at work, voicing the character played by Russell Tovey in the original English. Andres apparently though that voicing the third act of the film was "harder than playing football." Then again, he had to do this without Leo Messi.

Forget the cartoon, watching Andres say his lines while making those hand gestures for an hour and a half is all the entertainment anyone could need.

The top professional soccer league for women, which has only five teams, is in danger of losing sanctioning from US Soccer, the sport’s governing body in the United States.

Women’s Professional Soccer completed its third season last summer on the heels of the Women’s World Cup. Most of the players on the United States team, which lost to Japan in the riveting tournament final, also played in W.P.S. They returned from Germany to acclaim and the league experienced a modest bump in attendance as the Western New York Flash, based in Rochester, won the championship.

The six-team league was reduced to five when league officials terminated the magicJack franchise in South Florida. The team’s owner, Dan Borislow, who invented the device of the same name to make inexpensive telephone calls, subsequently filed a lawsuit suit against W.P.S.

According to US Soccer’s bylaws, all professional leagues are required to have a minimum of eight teams. With only six (all in the eastern part of the country) in 2011, W.P.S. requested and was granted a one-year waiver by the federation’s board of directors. Now with only five teams a certainty for the 2012 season, W.P.S. requested an extension of the waver to take it through a season that will include the London Olympics in the hope of attracting new investors before 2013.

“Our primary goal is to retain our D1 status,” Jennifer O’Sullivan, the league’s commissioner, said Thursday in a telephone interview. “We just came off a phenomenal season in 2011 and it feels like this is our time. We want to grab that and run with it.”

Rest of article behind cut )

It's a disgrace tbqh. For all the effort US Soccer puts into making the country seem like a real competitor in international soccer, they basically ignore their female teams, despite the fact that they've won more medals than the men's side can hope to in the next 100 years.

There's a petition on Change.org created by NY Flash defender Alex Sahlen gathering signatures to help save the league's D1 status, you can sign it here.

Also, mods, how is there not a 'Sepp Blatter' tag already? For shame.

American Samoa's football team - ranked as the worst international team in the world - has won a game for the first time in its history.

The US protectorate managed a 2-1 victory over Tonga after 30 straight defeats in almost two decades.

Reports said the players and coach of the Pacific nation celebrated as if they had won a major championship.

In 2001 American Samoa lost 31-0 to Australia - the heaviest defeat in international football history.

American Samoa are joint bottom of world governing body Fifa's international rankings.

Coach Thomas Rongen said the victory would now be "part of soccer history".

"Maybe we have a chance to do something special here beyond this one game, but let's enjoy this one right now," he said.

Getafe CF, in a campaign to increase the number of season ticket holders, have launched a viral video in which it encourages fans of Getafe to become sperm donors so they can breed new Getafe season ticket holders.

The bizarre video, which is obviously done tongue-in-cheek, features a sperm donor collecting a plastic container at a clinic, and then watching a film called Zombies Calientes de Getafe (translated in English as “Getafe’s Hot Zombies.”)

The club, which resides in Getafe — on the outskirts of Madrid, has approximately 9,000 season ticket holders but has to compete against rival clubs Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid who have 85,000 and 42,000 season ticket holders respectively. One way to stand out from the crowd is to hope that a viral video like this will spread and attract supporters.

Whether they stay up is another matter entirely.

my bad, i didn't know there was a post about this already. i forgot to check the getafe tag... but i have the link to the porn so that makes this post ~different. k. enjoy.

Unless you have been living under a rock or don't give a shit about La Liga, you probably heard all about the wankfest of the Supercopa, fight, tackles, racist crowds blah blah blah, etc.

But perhaps you did not hear about the absolute best part of Supercopa. One of the defining pictures of the night.

(plz ignore Mou/Vilanova, this is a fun post, not a wank post)

This video apparently shows Messi puking, vomiting, blowing chunks, throwing up, yacking, hurling, at the Bernabeu. Clearly this proves that he is an arrogant, disrespectful and vulgar little puke. Or maybe it was the few extra lbs (or kg as i am in Europe now) he seemed to be carrying. To me (and people on twitter) he seemed to have packed on some weight, others thought maybe it was just a new hair cut. Either way, still went the full 90 and scored a goal, showing that real footballers have curves.
