I've been pronouncing EVERYONE's name wrong

Oh, England. SMH. It's been a sh*tshow, tbh. It seems that some British policemen got gassed by their French counterparts? Oh, dear

Cool photo

Social Media

LOL

Where is the lie?

Nice! Congratulations to Eric Dier

The Irish fans are a joy

Where is the LIE?

Football confessions

It is ripe for the taking

Croatia has some inventive kit

Euro 2016
France 2- 0 Albania

Subs Griezmann and Pogba changed things up

They were left out of the starting 11 due to reasons

Bilic has been preening like a proud papa over his Payet. Rates him as highly as Mordic

Payet created fourteen chances and Giroud wasted all his

Greizmann kept on and made it happen. Props to Deschamps for changing things when they weren't working, for going positive. For being everything Hodgson isn't, tbh

Russia 1- 2 Slovakia

Two

What's the story with Vladimir Wiess and his stint at Man City and Man United academies?

Lovely!

Romania 1- 1 Switzerland

Welp

Romania got a penalty kick. Switzerland clawed one back

OP: done. Gone to hyperventilate for this Wales vs England game. I want us to win over Wales - despite Hodgson and his cohort, tbh

Sócrates dead at 57

Brazil legend Socrates has died after suffering an intestinal infection that developed into septic shock. He was 57.

He was taken into intensive care on Thursday after eating infected stroganoff at a hotel. His wife and a friend also fell ill, but Socrates had been in a state of poor health and was unable to recover.

It was the third time in four months he had been taken into intensive care after abuse of alcohol caused his stomach to haemorrhage in August. He was pronounced dead at around 4.30am local time on Sunday at the Albert Einstein Israeli Hospital in Sao Paulo.

He was well known as a drinker and a smoker during his playing days but, in a recent interview with SporTV, played down his reliance on alcohol.

"I never had many problems with alcohol because I was not addicted," he said. "All the time I interacted with alcohol as if it were a partner, but I never had withdrawal symptoms. I spent long periods without use. I do not feel like drinking. It is five months since I put a drop of alcohol in my mouth. I do not miss it.

"Obviously you have to change some of your behaviour and avoid risky situations, so to speak. In my case, it is easy. I have no addiction. For those with addiction it is much more complicated."

A captain of his national side, he is considered one of the greatest playmakers the game has seen, and represented his country at the World Cups of 1982 and 1986. Sócrates made 60 appearances for Brazil between 1979 and 1986

At club level, he spent much of his career in his homeland - most significantly a six-year spell with Corinthians in which he won the Campeonato Paulista three times - but also played in Italy with Fiorentina. In 2004, he famously came out of retirement at the age of 50 to make a one-off substitute appearance for English lower-league side Garforth Town.Read more... )

Sepp Blatter will make way for a successor as FIFA president in four years' time if he is re-elected in June, he has announced.

Blatter is seeking a fourth term as FIFA president and is being challenged by Asian confederation chief Mohamed Bin Hammam.

The 75-year-old told UEFA's Congress in Paris on Tuesday that if he wins he will definitely stand down in 2015, saying: "You know very well that I am a candidate for the next four years as FIFA president but these will be the last four years for which I stand as a candidate."
He added: "Together we have the task of bringing together the adventure we have started.
"We want to ensure a better future for our youth."

The new president will be elected at a Fifa Congress which starts on 31 May.

With Bin Hammam vowing to increase Fifa's decision-making power and spread its considerable wealth, Blatter is facing his first challenge since Issa Hayatou took him on - and lost - in 2002.

Bin Hammam is also currently attending the Congress for European football's governing body, Uefa, as they lobby federation presidents for their vote on 1 June in Zurich.
Uefa members make up more than one quarter of the maximum 208 Fifa voters that Blatter and Bin Hammam will attempt to woo.
The winner needs a two-thirds majority of valid votes cast in the first ballot, or a majority in the second.

Fifa has set an 1 April deadline for other candidates to be nominated by a single member federation.
"We are in extra time," said Blatter, referring to the time left before the election. "Let's wait and see what the outcome will be."

Yesterday, Liedson played his first game back in Brazil.

So, did he score? )

I know this is a useless post and will probably be ignored, but I just felt like sharing this with Liedson fans (I think there are a few here). And brazilian football deserves some love :) Haters, stay fat like Ronaldo.

Welcome to… the most disorganized football country in the world

So I thought of making a post about the Brazilian series A, but it won’t make much sense if you’re not familiar with the clubs, the rivalries and the regional particularities of the country. So here’s a little intro to both of those things:

Picture heavy, etc )

Ronaldo meets Wolverine

Hugh Jackman visits the Brazilian supastaaa at the Corinthians training camp. Ronaldo gives him a fancy shmancy customized Corinthians jersey while he gets a cheap looking screenprinted Wolverine movie shirt -- the type you get for free when you buy a 24 pack of Budweiser

It's not awkward at all :)

Ronaldo gets black eye in media frenzy on return

• Striker hit in the face with microphone
• Frenzy after first club game in Brazil for 15 years

The Brazilian striker Ronaldo was left with a black eye after being jostled by reporters and cameramen and hit in the face with a microphone following his debut for São Paulo side Corinthians. The 32-year-old was playing in his first competitive match in just over a year after he needed surgery on a knee injury picked up playing for Milan in February last year. Ronaldo came on as a 68th-minute substitute and may play again on Sunday against Corinthians' traditional rivals Palmeiras in the state championship.

"It was a good debut for Ronaldo," Corinthians coach Mano Menezes said. "He moved well and even tried some of the moves that are typical of him. It was a first step important to overcome and with time things should become easier. We will talk to him and see how he felt." read more )
