The following countries are already qualified for AFCON 2015: Cape Verde, Algeria, Tunisia, South Africa, Cameroon, Zambia, Burkina Faso, Gabon, Senegal.  Morocco had to forfeit their bye with the AFCON 2015 location change to Equatorial Guinea, from what I understand. Not sure if Equatorial Guinea is taking their spot or if they are still disqualified. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

(This is a scheduled post. May not be around for these games. Hopefully there is enough linkage to ensure your match enjoyment. The final set of qualifiers are scheduled for Wed., Nov. 19th)

I know y'all are just chomping at the bit for even more matches these week (NO, everyone screams), and the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers are here to provide.  This is a scheduled post - idk if it's going to post correctly or not, but I thought I'd throw this up if someone wanted to watch/follow the games and use it as a discussion post.  I probably will not be around for these games, unfortunately.  By my calculations, the first game will start about an hour after this post (hopefully) goes up.

Right now, Morocco (the 2015 AFCON host nation) has asked the CAF to postpone the final games in January due to the Ebola epidemic (ARTICLE), but no final decision has been made as of yet - it will be discussed at meetings on November 2-3 (ARTICLE).  As far as I can tell, all games today are being played as scheduled.  Prayer circle for everyone involved.

AFCON Qualifiers - Wednesday, Oct 15th: 14 games for your eyeballs )

These times are local (and I don't know what time zones they are), but you can switch them to your local time at the CAF website for the matches.  Click on the little Earth graphic in the upper right corner. Presumably there will also be game summaries: AFCON FIXTURES @ CAF

Also, here's a list of broadcast games I snagged from a beIN Sports stream (these times are Eastern - EDT).  Don't know if any other channels are airing them.

At least 8 games are being aired on TV )

The rest of the qualifiers are scheduled for Nov 14-15 and Nov 19.

(Also, pretend Ghana has a tag.)

RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — Nigeria is not backing down after sacking its entire national football federation leadership, ignoring a FIFA directive and moving closer to a ban from internationals for the reigning African champion. A weekend meeting of football and government officials in the capital Abuja endorsed the earlier sacking of Nigeria Football Federation President Aminu Maigari and his executive committee for not solving a player payment dispute during the World Cup. Officials said in a statement Sunday they were planning new elections.

World body FIFA, which doesn't allow governments to interfere in football affairs, said it would not recognize Saturday's meeting and has given Nigeria until Tuesday to reinstate Maigari or face sanctions. That would likely involve banning the country's national team and clubs from playing in continental or international tournaments, and could leave players like Chelsea's John Obi Mikel and Liverpool's Victor Moses frozen out of next year's African Cup in Morocco, where Nigeria is due to defend its title.

Maigari was also arrested on his return from the World Cup in Brazil and delegates at the emergency meeting said they blamed him for embarrassing Nigeria at the tournament by not resolving the bonus dispute.

Nigeria reached the second round for the first time since 1998 but had its campaign marred by the payment dispute, where players rebelled against the federation after not receiving their money for making the last 16 of the showcase. However, the continent's reputation was also badly damaged as Nigeria, Cameroon and Ghana all had their tournaments undermined by disputes between players and officials over money.

HELLO EVERYBODY!
LONG TIME, NO VISIT!

Wow it´s been a long time since I´ve been in here ... feels like we need a revival ready for the WORLD CUP and what better way to do it than with a bit of community cooperation and participation, because a World Cup is nothing without ...

And anyone who has ever done a Panini sticker album before knows, you need lots of stickers but that also means that you end up with lots of duplicates ... which is where this post is going to come in!

Leave a comment with a list of either the stickers you have to swap, or the stickers you need and other members can reply with the stickers they need/have ... then you can take it to the DMs (or twitter, as most of us are there too!) to trade contact info to get your stickers on their way worldwide XD

HAPPY STICKERING!

Dilichukwu Onyedinma, chair of the Nigeria Women Football League and a member of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) executive committee, has reportedly announced after the Annual General Assembly on Thursday, that lesbianism is now officially banned from Nigerian football.

Posted: 2011-06-06 15:19

A number of stars and legends have been invited to play in the long-awaited testimonial match for Nigerian star Kanu, to be played in Lagos, Nigeria, on Saturday.

Media reports in West Africa confirm that Ghanaian stars Michael Essien (Chelsea), Asamoah Gyan (Sunderland) and Sulley Muntari (Inter Milan) are to be at the match.

They will rub shoulders with a legion of past and current global icons of the game, including Senegalese footballer El Hadji Diouf (Glasgow Celtic), Cameroon's Samuel Eto (Inter Milan) and Togo's Emmanuel Adebayor (Manchester City, on-loan to Real Madrid).

South Africans Aaron Mokoena (Portmouth) and Siphiwe Tshabalala (Kaizer Chiefs) are also expected to play.

Essien is expected to dash straight to the airport after the last whistle in order to make the flight to Paris, France, where he will attend the wedding of his Chelsea teammate Didier Drogba.
