SUPER MARIO STRIKES AGAIN- In a women's prison

Mario Balotelli  and his 17-year-old brother Enock were arrested in the Italian city of Brescia, near Milan, and questioned for half an hour on Friday after deciding, out of curiosity, to have a wander around the grounds of an all-female clink.

Says prison crew Calogero Lo Presti:We saw a high-powered Mercedes coupé come through the gate with two lads on board, and after a few minutes we realised Balotelli was one of them.

They were questioned for 30 minutes to get their details and by the end both were frightened. Balotelli said he was sorry. They said they had seen the gate was open, and went in without knowing that you need special permission to visit a jail.

They added they were specially curious at the fact it was a women’s prison. LOL OKAY

Looks like Ozil is doing quite well in Real Madrid and seems like Jose is impressed by his improvements.

"I liked Ozil's performance. He felt less responsibility and pressure where he came from. He needs to pressurise here and to cover aspects of the game he finds more complicated. He finds it hard to play for 90 minutes, but he is essential when his energy reserves last. At 21 years of age he is just a kid and I'm sure he will perform at an optimum level. The fans support him and he feels comfortable with me. He has taken an important step. As I say, we are under construction, and tonight I wanted Ozil to play farther away from Xabi Alonso and Khedira in order to put more pressure on Ruben Perez. I've given him a lot of freedom to participate as much as he can during this whole period of construction."

The Seleçao is getting ready for their friendly matches with Iran and the Ukraine. Menezes didn't put Neymar on the roster (this didn't bother me too much because the other babies on the team need tome to shine too) but out of curiosity i was trying to find out why. One article was complaining about Neymar.

And another, my favorite article about it, said Menezes didn't call him up for disciplinary measures.

Santos teenager Neymar, who made an exciting Brazil debut last month, has been dropped from October friendlies as a disciplinary measure, coach Mano Menezes said on Thursday.

The gifted but hot-headed 18-year-old ran into trouble with Santos coach Dorival Junior over acts of indiscipline last week that Menezes was also unhappy about. Dorival lost his job over a suspension he imposed on the player.

"I think it's essential to make our line quite clear in how we think of conducting our work (with the national team)," Menezes said after naming his squad.

"We always say what a player brings to the national team is what he produces on the pitch," he told a news conference.

Menezes added that Neymar's return to the Brazil squad depended entirely on the player who scored on his debut in a 2-0 away win over the United States last month.Reuters

Premier League face potential 'Bosman' of TV rights

The European Court of Justice will this week hear a landmark case brought by a Portsmouth-based pub landlord, which could change the landscape of how sports broadcasting rights are sold across Europe.

Five years ago, Karen Murphy would try to draw punters to her Portsmouth pub, The Red, White and Blue, by showing Premier League football matches on the pub TV.

However, she found the monthly subscription to Sky Sports increasingly unaffordable - pubs can pay more than £1,000 a month.

Instead, she found a cheaper means of screening English football - a subscription to a Greek satellite broadcaster, NOVA. This imported satellite card was around one 10th of the cost Karen was paying to BSkyB.

She says she's not the only one saving money in this way:

Tevez in mother of all bust ups with Mancini



ROBERTO MANCINI launched a four-letter rant at Carlos Tevez in a vicious dressing-room bust-up.

Tevez swung his arms at the Manchester City boss who poured out a stream of insults at his skipper during Sunday's clash with Newcastle.

Mancini was heard screaming: "Go **** your mother" before ordering the striker to shut up because he was the boss. The row erupted at half-time during City's 2-1 win at Eastlands.

City boss Mancini was furious at his team's performance but Tevez began to complain that the side was not set up properly and were playing too defensively.

Mancini then made the mother insult and Argentina star Tevez leapt up and confronted his boss, who in turn charged towards the player.

City team-mates and staff grappled to keep the pair from thumping one another. After Tevez, 26, was forced to sit back down Mancini continued to lay into the players. The Italian then stormed out of the dressing room into the tunnel.

Tevez followed and later they shook hands after the player was subbed.

UPDATE: LIVERPOOL FC STATEMENT

The Board of Directors have received two excellent financial offers to buy the Club that would repay all its long-term debt. A Board meeting was called today to review these bids and approve a sale. Shortly prior to the meeting, the owners - Tom Hicks and George Gillett - sought to remove Managing Director Christian Purslow and Commercial Director Ian Ayre from the Board, seeking to replace them with Mack Hicks and Lori Kay McCutcheon.

This matter is now subject to legal review and a further announcement will be made in due course.

Meanwhile Martin Broughton, Christian Purslow and Ian Ayre continue to explore every possible route to achieving a sale of the Club at the earliest opportunity.

US Squad Completes Second Training Session in Chicago


The rumble of freight trains, the rattle of trucks traversing the adjacent Harlem Avenue and the peculiar scent of corn starch (manufactured by the ton nearby) may not be the ideal setting for soccer training. But Chicago did cooperate with unusually spectacular October weather. So it was that with a temperature tipping to the warm side of 70 degrees and a sky devoid of the faintest cloud coverage, the United States men’s national team completed their second full training session on the training pitch at Toyota Park on Tuesday in preparation for Saturday’s match against Poland.

Integration Time
It’s immediately apparent that it will take some time for Jermaine Jones to integrate himself with his new national team. Jones tended to stay close to fellow Bundesliga players Michael Bradley and Steve Cherundolo during warm-ups and drills. Bradley, who figures to play alongside Jones, seems to be the one tasked with helping Jones along. In a moment of confusion during drills, Bradley held up proceedings and trotted over to Jones, and the two conversed in German until Jones nodded with understanding and play continued. To Jones’ credit, the moments of disconnect with teammates that occurred occasionally throughout the rest of the session didn’t seem to ruffle his feathers.
