He took driving lessons when he was 18 but never took a driving test. He just decided to drive without a licence. "Sadly I decided to take this route. I can't even comprehend the reasons myself. Now I know: I was too naive and it was stupid. I have learnt my lesson. It will never happen again."

In Europe, most countries do have good public transport, and depending on where you live you have a tax for driving (in Denmark, they make it expensive for you to have a car, so you either use public transport or cycle). I got away without having to drive for years, because the public transport was relatively good and inexpensive.

Well, you can get car insurance, that's not the problem. It's just... claiming it when it all goes tits up, that will be the problem. So you're paying all this money into the ether, knowing that if it goes tits up, you can't claim. But it's stuff like that that only makes it expensive for everyone else. SMH.
