Chatter from the sidelines
- Brendan Rodgers: Liverpool boss sacked after Merseyside derby Best. News. Ever. For all everyone is trying to spin the facts, "Rodgers has the makings of a good manager" and "He'll come good in the future" and "His personal life is off limits." Nah son, Rodgers shouldn't have gotten the LFC job in the first place, and his 2013/14 season was a beautiful outlier, but still an outlier. I'd come to bury him, not praise him, but he already did that. May he never darken a training ground again, plonker
- Dick Advocaat: Sunderland boss quits Premier League strugglers I don't blame Advocaat, not as much as the Sunderland board. They overpay for mediocre talent, for one
Pictures
Bundesliga
Bayern Munich 5- 1 Borussia Dortmund

So, are we still calling this der klassiker? When I say 'we' I mean the powers that be

I heard Dortmund got Mullered, so

Two goals by Muller, two by Lewodsomething, and one by Goetzse? Goestze? The carb faced one

Twitter came with jokes and memes as Le- preys on clubs' hopes and dreams

Dortmund's midfield and defence didn't turn up that day? I hear yah
Schalke 04 0- 3 FC Köln

At least the fans got applause from their players at the end of the match
La Liga
Atletico de Madrid 1- 1 Real Madrid
Summary of match

Sergio seems to be someone who will always be affectionate to the ones that he loves, so that's sweet. Idek if I like Atletic's new shirt though

Is Jackson Martinez Colombian or something? Why the interest, Shakira?

Simone was shouting and gesticulating like a madman.

France is lucky to have them both
Premier League
Everton 1 - 1 Liverpool

The only thing worthy of the derby was when Sakko gave Lukkaku (?) this look. It was going down, y'all!

Ings is a better buy than Benteke - he works, drags defenders, links up with his fellow strikers... I can see why Spurs and Real Sociedad wanted him. He won't be a great player, but a good one who gives everything for his team, and that's what you want

Rumours were rife that the Merseyside derby was going to be Rodgers' last game- it seemed that everyone else knew but him though. According to reports, he got a phone call and then in person from Ian Arye (who's still at the club, why?) and was supposedly dignified.

3.5 seasons, £300 m spent, alienated half the senior players, couldn't hang on to his break out players, playing players out of position, embodying the Peter Principle at its finest. Bye
Swansea 2- 2 Spurs

Eriksen was my MOTM. After Kane's OWN GOAL(!) that put Swansea 2 up, it was hard graft by Spurs and Eriksen delivered with two beautiful free kicks

Living definition of "Oh shi-" but again, it's Kane's second season in the PL, and learning on the job. It's how he carried on after that impressed me. He put his head down, worked hard, got stuck in. I rate that

Look at that kick though! Phwaaooor. It's normally faster and flatter than his other free kicks, so Eriksen must have been working on that when he was getting back to match fitness

Credit to Spurs though. As a team, they really work hard for each other and fight for the shirt. You'd have never said that about Tottenham say, two years ago after Mordich and Bale left
Arsenal 3 - 0 Manchester United

It wasn't De Gea's fault. Why Schneiderlin was dropped from midfield, the world will never know

Ha ha!

Man U and Chelsea's third kits are a travesty

So, Arsenal has the strength to beat Manchester United but lose to Olympiwhatever? That says nothing for Manchester United on this day, tbh.

Something something Sanchez. It's a shame to see Manchester United on its knees though. When we get to top 3 teams because the English teams have buggered up our coefficient, will they still be there?
OP: done! Sorry about the lateness, but I woke up late, and couldn't find my glasses and well, yeah. Cheers, jeers, corrections and commentary pushback - I don't care! Brendan Rodgers is GONE

Date: 2015-10-05 11:21 am (UTC)The british media is full of Klopp articles today i see. They'll probably be very disappointed if they get anybody other than him
Erm... not so soon?
Date: 2015-10-05 11:35 am (UTC)The media has been carrying water for Rodgers because he was the only British manager in a top six team, but not even them could cover his failings. Then on top of that, Brendan Rodgers then turned against the media who've been covering for him at this time!

LOL, anything to sell papers, tbh. But there must be a reason why they got rid of Rodgers at this time. They must have bead on someone who's waiting in the wings. I'm just glad to see the back of Brendan Rodgers, tbh. You can't live on past glories, and he's been doing so for the past eighteen months.
RE: Erm... not so soon?
Date: 2015-10-05 02:28 pm (UTC)True, but they could also have gotten Ancelotti
it seems like nothing's final yet in either case though, and, well it's internationals week so there's time to draw this out xD
Nooo not Ancelotti

Date: 2015-10-05 01:06 pm (UTC)On MOTD2 last night, Shearer said that Andre Ayew had offered himself to Liverpool during the summer but was rejected, so he joined Swansea on a free. Between this and losing out in Alexis (who said that Grandpère and guaranteed CL every year were the big draws for him), Brendan has made some terrible decisions.
Dortmund are dead to me.
Rodgers is ... an embarrassment
Date: 2015-10-05 01:11 pm (UTC)With regards to Klopp- dunno, but they haven't advertised a caretaker manager at LFC, so it means that they have a replacement to hand.

Date: 2015-10-05 02:57 pm (UTC)So Brenda's gone - no surprise there. Klopp to the Kop? If alliteration and assonance have anything to do with it, yes. He'd certainly liven up the place.
Oh rapture, Sernando. XD

Date: 2015-10-05 03:24 pm (UTC)I think Klopp going to the Kop would be a mistake for him.

This on Boateng was illuminating: "The German World-Cup winner then became more oriented on playmaking and proceeded to make excellent long balls throughout the game with an especially impressive accuracy. In the first 46 minutes Boateng played 8 long balls – only 1 of which was inaccurate whilst 2 were direct assists as well as one being another chance created."
