Women's World Cup USA 5- 2 Japan

Credit to the yanks for getting the sport before it was even a 'thing' world wide for women. Title X, right?

All 16 national federations for the teams that failed to get out of the group stage at the 2014 men’s World Cup received $8 million from FIFA. That was $6 million more than the winning national federation will receive at this year’s Women’s World Cup, and that is just the start of the disparity.”

I thought the match was today, LOL at me. Anyway, just as well, the scoreline suggests a slaughter. Not Germany vs Brazil type, but still, if I'd stayed up for that I'd have been annoyed

USA got a hat trick against Japan in sixteen minutes, and The Daily Mail calls it 'a thriller'. LOL
OP: Done! Any cheers, jeers, corrections and commentary pushback, you know the drill! Cheers

Date: 2015-07-06 01:47 pm (UTC)I think back to World Cup 2010 and laugh. Pundits were insisting that, with Miro being 32 at the time, it would be his last World Cup and how it was a shame he wouldn't have a chance to break the scoring record. When asked at Euro 2012 Miro insisted that he'd be in Brazil in 2014, and yet still many were very skeptical. He proved them all wrong! What a fantastic way to end his international career, with that record and the World Cup! Having first started following the German NT when Miro made his WC debut in 2002, it felt like a fairy tale ending for me, seeing him finally achieve the dream. Was all excited when Germany won it in 2014, but when the camera cut to Miro sitting there with his sons I started crying because I was just so happy for him!
