- Jose Mourinho in 'no mood to laugh' over Nemanja Matic's red card and cryptically names four 'crucial' minutes which changed the game in Chelsea's controversial draw with strugglers Burnley
the refereeing in this match has been shocking. here's a gif of the foul ON Matic. The Burnley player could have broken Matic's leg! - Serie A giants Parma 'dissolved' amid claims they couldn't even afford water for training sessions Parma's fortunes just got worse over time
- Balotelli needs to work harder Not impressed by Balotelli's work rate and threw impressive shade on the Serie A . So subtle, but it's there
- Match-winning genius or Achilles heel? Pirlo will make or break Juventus against Dortmund Pirlo never shows signs of decay, does he?
- Borussia Dortmund Striker Immobile Rules Out Serie A Return Wants to prove himself at Dortmund
- Napoli Boss Benitez Coy On Paris Saint-Germain Job Rafa to PSG?

You're having a laff!
funny vines by vonstrenginho- mostly PL football personalities, but worth a look

In no particular order, sorry about that, we'll just have to live with things at is for today, savvy?
Bundesliga
Bayern Munich 6- 0 Paderborn match report here

With this slaughter, Bayern Munich is eleven points clear of the Bundisliga. As a neutral, this match was kinda boring, tbh.

Paderborn would have been better off cancelling the match and telling their players to stay in the showers. What a terrible performance. Even Burnley put up a better fight against Chelsea, yo (okay, almost broke Matic's leg- but at least it showed spirit!). Paderborn had none
Schalke 1-1 Wermer

Uchida got presented a shirt for his 100th match with the club

The match ended 1-1

Höwedes in action
La Liga
Barcelona 0- 1 Malaga
Match round up in this video. That's about it, really. No pictures worth searching for
Atlético Madrid 3- 0 Celta Vigo
Yayyy for videos. Question- do you prefer videos (when they can be linked) over pictures, or would you like both? I'm easy either way, but just thought that I'd ask

Stop, drop and roll, Greizmann, because you are on FIYAH!

Someone needs to pin down Torres for an interview, and ask him this question,'How does it feel to be coached by Simeone- years after you used to be his superior?' (Even though from what I've gathered, he and Simeone are friends, and stayed in contact all through Torres' years abroad, so it can't be too much static)

Greizmann has scored 17 goals since landing at Atlético Madrid. Real Sociedad holds its head and cries.
English Premier League
I'm not doing all the match pictures, because NGL, some of the teams aren't going to be in the PL next year, and it feels like gawking
Aston Villa 1- 2 Stoke City

Tim Sherwood compared himself to Guardiola and slighted Mauricio Pochettino. As much as I'm sorry that Villa lost, I can only say LOL to Sherwood

Villa started really well

Stoke's Moses broke their hearts and took three points
Burley 1 -1 Chelsea

I have things to say about Burnley's coach (it seems that I'm side eying all Northerners this weekend), but I ain't got the time! I'm kinda with Mourinho side this ONE time. That tackle by the Burnley fellow was out of order

Matic was (understandably) raging after that terrible challenge. He misses Wembley, and yeah, the FA really need to start seeing to their referees, because it's going to bring the game in disrepute
Crystal Palace 1-2 Arsenal

I agree with this comment

I'm meh on both teams, tbh. It's one of these results where I sit down, look at the PL table and do the math. It would have been good for LFC or Spurs if Palace had won, but Palace hadn't so *kanye shrug*. That's as much emotion as I can bring to this match result.

They won, end of. We move on
Hull 2- 1 QPR

Joey Barton of QPR punched a Hull player in his balls and got a red card. That was the highlight of the match. Moving on
Sunderland 0-0 West Brom

Sunderland's 13th draw, face relegation. Poyet is in trouble

The word for today is brought to you by woeful, because that's how the match was
Swansea 2-1 Manchester United

Herrera came on and made things happen, as he does

LOL, this made me laugh, so I'm putting it here

Best Man U kit in years. I've seen the rumoured Adidas one, and it's fug, like most Adidas kits are

Swans Ki man (I will push this pun until I diiiieee) equalised soon after. Shaw was MIA

Secret agent Shelvy slotted one home. Celebrate!
Manchester City 5- 0 Newcastle

Noel Gallagher rocked up to the Man City game

Dzeko got his goal

Everyone had a go.

The only good thing about Bony going to Man City is that now they can sate my thirst trap with more pictures. I think Bony is handsome, but as a Swansea player, he'd have always be under the radar. Now that he's with City, I can have more pictures! Mwhaahahahaahaaa!

First day at his new job and Bony looks over awed. You can do it, Bony! Show 'em what yah got. I also send good vibes to Newcastle because between Ashley and Carver, they're going to be in for a warm time
OP: done. Any broken links, push back at commentary, etc, leave comment and I will get to it when I have time (on beta duties today, so it might take a while). Thank you!

Date: 2015-02-22 10:52 am (UTC)A bunch of surprising results yesterday. I still find it difficult to form an opinion on Chelsea. They have a lot of strengths but a bunch of weaknesses too.
The Barcelona result surprised me. But all the big teams stumble at some point in the season, I guess. The City-Barca match will be interesting. City is overdue a win against a big non-English team in the knock-outs.
I don't understand the 'Bayern goes 11 points clear at the top of the table'. English papers use it all the time. But how can you go clear at the top when the 2nd in the race has a game in hand? Or maybe I just don't understand the true meaning of the saying.
yeah, they can do
Date: 2015-02-22 11:00 am (UTC)Málaga isn't a bad side? It happens sometimes. Barcelona just weren't firing, but to be fair to Malaga they stepped up the pace, and just blocked all passing channels. Look and learn, Atlético Madrid, look and learn.
But how can you go clear at the top when the 2nd in the race has a game in hand?
Idiom? We look at the league table calculated on match day or match week. We don't really count the (oncoming) game in hand (for next week). For all you know, a meteor might destroy one of the clubs and its stadium next week, you know?
RE: yeah, they can do
Date: 2015-02-22 11:15 am (UTC)Anyway they will almost certainly appeal in that case.
Lol, well that true. Trying to understand idioms is impossible anyway.

Date: 2015-02-22 11:24 am (UTC)I'm inclined more towards pictures because streaming doesn't always work so well for me, but sometimes you really need a video to understand an incident to truly appreciate a goal.
thank you for your response
Date: 2015-02-22 11:27 am (UTC)Seriously, thank you for your response :)'

Date: 2015-02-22 12:23 pm (UTC)Did you read the quote by Simeone that Atleti are going for the 3rd place now? Well, I guess it's good to lower expectations a bit, but I was still a bit surprised, even though what he said it makes sense - Atleti winning the league last year was something extraordinary. Here's hoping they have a chance in the CL sooner or later, before Simeone leaves.
I prefer pics, because I rarely bother / have time to watch the videos! And pics are nice because the moment is frozen and you have a better look at it. :)
ETA: Did you guys see that some Chelsea fan has organized a "fundraising" for a trip to London for the Paris racial abuse victim?
yeah, I linked it yesterday, iirc
Date: 2015-02-22 12:31 pm (UTC)No, I didn't read that about Simeone, but to be fair, unless they know how to pick the lock that is Barcelona, they aren't going to have a shot at first. I think going for third might be good monetary wise, considering that come next season, they can get good players and keep their best ones. I think 2015/16 might be their year tbh.
Pics it is, then!
Yeah, the PL cards do affect other national competitions.

Date: 2015-02-22 12:41 pm (UTC)I only now saw the tackle on Matic and JFC, that was nasty. I'm glad Burnley managed to get a point out of Chelsea and all but I hope that dude gets some retroactive punishiment, it was awful.
Speaking of reactions to nasty fouls, this also happened yesterday lol:

Date: 2015-02-22 01:18 pm (UTC)speaking of videos though, Augsburg goalkeeper equalizing last night (http://streamable.com/ldiv), that was nice :D
And Puma is hyping up the Tuesday match by having Reus and Buffon 'interview' eachother (english subtitles in closed captions)
(i say 'interview' because they were clearly nowhere near in the same room xD Gigi seems far more personable in this xD)

Date: 2015-02-22 02:30 pm (UTC)Why do you dislike Adidas kits/find them ugly?
pictures it is, then!
Date: 2015-02-22 02:40 pm (UTC)I dislike the Adidas kits because they all look similar, especially if you're a lower league team (not Real Madrid, Bayern, etc). The three stripes along the sleeves give all the kits in all the league a depressing sameness, whereas with the Nike kits and their little logo (puma is similar to this), you can do a lot of designs not having to worry about the stupid stripes.
For instance:
Different league, same template. Ick.
In addition, the three stripes tend to interrupt the design instead of accessorising:
Just yuck all around.

Date: 2015-02-22 02:56 pm (UTC)Gag
That yellow V around the neckline... no. So yeah, never been a big fan.
The colour scheme is nice, but the drop shoulder lines really ruin a classic design. I hope that doesn't come back in 2015/16 season!
RE: pictures it is, then!
Date: 2015-02-22 06:38 pm (UTC)it makes for some boring as hell kits sometimes, but it's damn good branding for the company.
