The whole Lewandowski drama is making me laugh so hard!!

While Lahmpoleon wants to retire, Basti just announced he wants to do another 3 to four years. :)

[identity profile] marsyke.livejournal.com 2015-01-15 06:44 am (UTC)(link)
Stop talking about retirement, Lahm!
I read somewhere that Satan Bobby said that he doesn't regret his votes, I have no idea anymore. Still storm in a glass of water.
I have a problem with the transfers of young players. Nowadays big clubs are already poaching 14 and 15-year-olds. I don't have a problem with it, if it's in the region but small clubs in Belgium and the Netherlands are losing their talents to big clubs in England and Spain and that really hurts the competition. It's not always good for the player either. All the successfull Belgians in the EPL played in the Belgian or Dutch competitions before while the ones who come from the youth academies of big clubs, De Laet, Boyata, Januzaj are either in a small team or struggling for playing time.
That was a bit long but I find it a problematic development.

I'd like to see Miro back in Bremen!

Ryan is playing really well this season but I'm not sure he is a more talented goalkeeper than Mignolet. Liverpool might break him, like they did with Simon.

Can't agree more RE: everything you said about the transferring of young players. It's become really problematic.

[identity profile] mrsvixen.livejournal.com 2015-01-15 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
IA about the transfer of young players. Not to mention that, in most cases, those players go from loan to loan when they're not warming the bench. One that comes to mind is Lucas Piazon. He had just turned 18 when Chelsea bought him. He had only played in the youth categories in Brazil and was about to make it in the senior team, where he could have stayed for two seasons at least. But no! He went to Chelsea to warm the bench and he's like... on his third loan now?! smh. I was rooting for you.gif!!!

A club spokesman confirmed they had terminated Torben Aakjaer’s contract, having suspended him earlier in the day after being alerted to a stream of racially offensive Facebook comments in which one mosque is described as a “conspiracy-potential prayer-shop”. The comments also indicate support for Denmark to close its borders and put “extra personnel on every crossover and exit so all that eastern Europe dirt and sh.. can be kept out”.

...

Another post refers to a newspaper story of Caroline Wozniacki, born to Polish parents but a Danish resident all her life, leaving photographs on Serena Williams’s phone after secretly taking it at a party. “Not a coincidence she’s Polish,” is the line.

jesus christ wtf is wrong with him.

[identity profile] marsyke.livejournal.com 2015-01-15 07:18 am (UTC)(link)

What a racist, xenophobic asshole. Glad they got rid of him.

I don't understand the Caroline Wozniacki comment.

I'm glad we chucked him out quickly.

[identity profile] marsyke.livejournal.com 2015-01-15 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
You will be even more happy if you read his reaction: from the Guardian:

Aakjaer now says he was simply expressing his opinion and that United had been forced into acting because they did not want the negative publicity. “It was my intention to be provocative, not racist. I dont see it as racist comment. I accept other people’s religion and beliefs.”

[identity profile] meliadoul.livejournal.com 2015-01-15 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
What a scumbag, and he tried to use the 'I woz hacked' excuse.

[identity profile] kelixo.livejournal.com 2015-01-15 08:15 am (UTC)(link)
What happened to the talk of Ochoa as a possible replacement for Mignolet? Am I going to have to watch him have to sit on the bench for another couple of months until the next transfer window opens. :(

I have no idea, I saw it at one of the blogs and have this 'lovely' conversation with the person who posted it how badly it's photoshopped. some people believe it's real.

people believe it's real??? really?

some people believe it's real.

*facepalm*

Sure, that sort of thing would definitely not get any press, and any match in which that occured would totally just be started off as normal.

I mean, of course there are still great racism problems in football, but thinking that that would just be ignored...

Stoke's Marko Arnautovic - no disciplinary action

[personal profile] koyuki 2015-01-15 02:08 pm (UTC)(link)
This is a few days old now but there hasn't been a news round up since pre Bd'O.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/stokes-marko-arnautovic-not-face-4965413

You know, I am completely willing to believe it was accidental, but that's not the problem here. The problem is that Stoke's defensive/club atmosphere has a culture of promoting violence in their play. Even Mou has complained about this :/ I don't necessarily think Arnautovic needs to be punished, but I think clubs should get punished/fined when their players hurt other teams' players because that cuts into their ability to compete. And would disrupt excessive fouling in football.

I mean, the FA's decision is its own, but with all the photographic evidence and viral social media, it's not like it used to be where it used to be. They look bad when things like this happen and their refs haven't stopped it and they don't dole out any additional punishments

RE: Stoke's Marko Arnautovic - no disciplinary action

[identity profile] chuk-is-dazzled.livejournal.com 2015-01-15 03:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Stoke is so brutal, like dudes, y'all aren't playing rugby ffs. And that pic is crazy cause it looks like he's legit trying to break Alexis neck

RE: Stoke's Marko Arnautovic - no disciplinary action

[identity profile] marsyke.livejournal.com 2015-01-15 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure it wasn't accidental. I mean there was literally no way any of them were going to reach the ball in time. I also had the feeling he used force. But you are right, they should be a lot stricter on violent actions.

[personal profile] koyuki 2015-01-15 04:25 pm (UTC)(link)
oh i don't think it was accidental at all, especially with Stoke's history of violence. But they can't "prove" it wasn't. I think the FA needs to put down harsher rules against clubs whose players think that breaking other players' legs, choking them, or shoving people so hard their shoulder gets dislocated is "okay play". Clearly this is a club culture problem, not an individual player problem.

Lahm needs to stop talking like he is already an old man. The juxtaposition is hilarious -- tiny, almost baby-faced, acts like like a sage old person. orz

Crispy Jr.'s favorite player is some guy named Messi.
That video is heartwarming. Also because I like babies.

So I think part of the reason I get irritated at Real fans more than Barca fans is because I have more of them on my dash, and they keep bitching about Messi. I mean I don't love the dude, but they're both just...people. Someone tried to defend Ronaldo by saying Messi was a bad person who didn't like kids and I was just like *flips table*

But of course his son is going to be more into another star athlete. The other guy is his dad. Hero worshipping your dad is too much.

(Also I don't think they're great friends with each other or anything, but i don't think they hate each other's guts like the media would want them to. Cripsy's baby with Messi being sweet to him T___T so heartwarming)

Werder Bremen want Miro back!
I could be wrong but didn't Miro not leave on super great terms? Well, the not-prodigal son... Werder might be the prodigal parent in this sense. I'd love Miro back though since I don't watch Serie A, not that I would be watching him anyway SINCE HE'S NOT GETTING ANY PLAY TIME

Yup. That whole video is abso-frelling-lutely adorable.

Methinks Lahm just does not want to pull a Ballack or a John Terry.

Well, Liverpool fans can get a preview of Matthew Ryan this weekend! Australia plays South Korea (on Saturday, IIRC).

Or maybe this story is more RPF. ;-P

Re: RE: Another socceroo?

[identity profile] jazzypom.livejournal.com 2015-01-16 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
If he's more like the socceroo in Bundesliga, sure. If he's like Brad Jones... nice lad, but no. More suited for league 1 games than PL. He's stealing a living, that one.

[identity profile] ms-geekette.livejournal.com 2015-01-16 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't seen him play yet, so no idea what he is like...I think he's starting ahead of the Bundesliga player? If Australia end up winning the Asian Cup without giving away a ton of goals while he's playing, I'd say he's a bit better than Jones.

We will see. I tend to take all these "we are looking at this player" stories with a large grain of salt at this point, though.
