UEFA opens disciplinary case against Busquets

UEFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against FC Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets, who is alleged to have violated Article 11 bis of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations by directing racist abuse towards a Real Madrid CF player in the UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg between the clubs on 27 April.

The proceedings have been launched on the basis of evidence provided by Real Madrid (video and statement of club and player). The UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body will deal with the case on Sunday 15 May and the decision will be communicated to the club on Monday 16 May.

I'm just glad they finally decided to do something about it. What do you think the outcome will be?

This was AFTER that little announcement on the RM website where it states that they did, in fact, NOT bring up the allegations of Sergio's racism to UEFA...also, at the very beginning of *this* particular thread of out of context quotes, I had posted a link from Sport saying that FCB was going to *defend* Busquets, and we were all WTF OUTRAGE WTF IS THIS????

But obviously *that* wasn't important enough to post?

Whatever, I am done, go ahead and think all cules "except for the few who post here who are decent hearted humans" or whatever are evil racists, which in effect is just a promotion of HATRED for no apparent reason...the root of racism is hatred for skin color, aka NO REASON.

Please, do continue.

I can only speak for myself, obviously, although I do know Kitty's stance on this and it is not AT ALL what it is being painted out to be.

1) Me saying Busquets is not a saint isn't me excusing him of anything or hoping he gets away with anything. It was just pissing me off that one fucked up thing he does suddenly reflects *everything* of what our club stands for. Pepe got like 5-6 match ban two years ago for beating up a Getafe player out of nowhere...is Real Madrid synonymous now with violence and violence being ok with deal with shit? No. He fucked up, everyone moved on. Before everyone jumps down my throat, I KNOW RACISM AND VIOLENCE AREN'T THE SAME THIGN OMG HDU COMPARE THEM, but they are both serious things. Pepe was punished for what he did...AS SHOULD BUSQUETS BE.

2) I never ever *ever* made a blaket, general statement, about all humanity, that just because you have experienced racism, you can't be racist--I was just speaking to my own personal experience. I have very strong feelings about racism (as in, I can't stand seeing it) since I personally experienced it, though I know that there are people who experience prejudice and they in turn become racist--I see that every day for that matter.

But whatever. It is quite clear that no matter what someone says, even with the best intentions, we obviously have to carefully word every single thing we say on the *internets* because it's going to somehow personally offend and enrage someone when that was not the intention behind it at all.

Also out of context because at the beginning of that particular thread of conversation we were expressing how completely and utterly *stupid* it is that FC Barcelona was going to defend Busquets before Uefa.

That would be a feat since the announcement went up a day after those comments were posted.

I don't think all cules are racists, but feel free to continue with your persecution complex. I just think some of you are sneaky little bitches who don't want to be caught sympathizing with their players in public.

(BTW, as obnoxious as FCB and RM as clubs are being, it's secondary to a PLAYER BEING CALLED A MONKEY. Or at least it should be. You, obviously, have different priorities.)

You don't get it – what Busquets did DOESN'T reflect on your club. Do you need me to find the link of Madridistas jumping on some non-Liga person for accusing this of being FCB's fault when it first happened? None of us blamed FCB – until FCB started in. What Busquets does doesn't in itself reflect on your club, but what Pep said does, what Rosell said does, what your VP said does, and your club's position on this does. THAT reflects on your club. Not what Busquets did – how your club reacted to it.

I know you want to make this an "noooo the cules are being persecuted thing" (which is much less relevant than MARCELO BEING CALLED A MONKEY, btw), but there are cules who are embarrassed by your and Kitty's comments. They're not all making excuses and distracting from the ACTUAL RACIST ACT. You don't represent all cules, thank god

...Just to clarify, if using the definition of institutionalised racism for racism is most effective for the US situation at the moment (an area which I'm fairly ignorant on), then okay. I'm not saying it shouldn't be if it works for the minorities involved. But it's the assumption of it applying elsewhere ("it also works in any Caucasian-dominated society, like Europe"). I don't see why we should be boxed into using American terminology for European situations - each society has its own problems with race, and whilst some aspects are universal, there are differences that have to be appreciated too.
