Inter star faces lengthy ban after doing a Zidane

MILAN - Inter Milan's crisis intensified with a 2-1 defeat at Chievo where Samuel Eto'o committed a Zinedine Zidane-like headbutt that could result in a lengthy suspension.

In a moment of madness similar to France midfielder Zinedine Zidane's assault on Italian Marco Materazzi in the 2006 World Cup final, Eto'o headbutted Cesar in the chest after having been hit by the defender. Eto'o was not cautioned by the referee, who missed the incident, but Serie A is sure to look at video evidence and will almost certainly hand the Cameroonian a lengthy ban.

"What Eto'o did is not something good but he took a punch first and it was provocation. He lost a bit of control, that's clear, said under-fire Inter coach Rafa Benitez.

Eto'o scored Inter's consolation goal late on after Sergio Pellissier and Davide Moscardelli put Chievo two up. The loss left the champions nine points off top spot.

Eventually the rest of Serie A would catch up but when you see that basically the starting 11 is out for Inter with injury it makes you even more depressed.

Somewhere in Madrid there's a pissed off Jose at what is happening to this team.

Yeah, this isn't the way I'd want any team to go out, honestly. You can't be the best without beating the best and it's unfortunate that injuries are watering Inter down.

I want to picture Jose writing Rafa an angry letter. I know it's not all him but his tactics are bullshit. I'm not going to say Jose would have Inter at the top of the league, but he'd make it work better than Rafa is, he's dealt with injured lineups before. It feels like Rafa is just at a complete loss for what to do .
