3. While he isn't actually playing in this photo it's my favorite on field one because its the culmination of all the work he has done out there; and he uses this moment to comfort a friend. perfectio.

hes a bamf when it comes to defense, hes a cheap drunk, and is the one of the only players to still tuck his shirt into his shorts
but real talk - he is so young, but conducts himself with class on the field. every (sober) interview i have seen of him, he has come across as intelligent, well-spoken, and mature. he is a key player in the back four and rightfully won himself a permanent place on the first team of both barca and the spanish nt.

I know I am kind of late on this... (Me and football had a break for a while because life got hectic. We are back together, happier and stronger now. I may marry it)..

Oh how true is the article??? I know. Goal.com is like garbage sometimes. But it scares me. I like Spain all fine and dandy. But if BB Zidane is anything like his dad I want him to play for France. WTF.

1. Luis Figo. HATE ALL YOU WANT, I DON'T EVEN CARE.
2. I can't even put it into his words. I'm a lifelong Portugal fan and he is seriously my King. I cannot express how much I love this man and what he did for our NT. No, we didn't win the WC, and it'll probably be years before we have a real chance again, but he took us SO FAR and gave us SO MUCH HOPE. He and Zidane are responsible for attracting me to Real Madrid and I will forever be grateful for the opportunity to see such magicians play together, but in the end it comes down to Portugal and his HEART. He will always, always be my Captain.
3. This isn't a triumphant video in the traditional sense of the word, in that we inevitably lost, but I am SO DAMNED PROUD that we got this far. It isn't even focused primarily on Figo, but his spirit is in every touch, every cross, and every shot. He was and will forever be the soul of Portugal and we would have never gotten here if it wasn't for him, nor do I think Cristiano would be the player he is today without him. That he was willing to come out of retirement for us shows just how much class and national pride he has. Thank you so, so much for 2006, and every Euro before it, Figo. We will never forget how far you took us.

4. I won't say passing the mantle, because I don't see C. Ron as a Captain right now, but sure as fuck passing the legend. These are two of my most favorite players in the world and Cris owes so much to his mentorship. I love them together. I love how much they respect each other's skill. And this video just makes me LOL because Figo is a master EVEN IN A CHAIR.

5. in 2003, he founded his own foundation to improve the lives and opportunities of disadvantaged and underprivileged children. He devotes a huge amount of his time to organizing fundraisers, charity events, and collaborating with governments to try to give young people the lives they deserve, from livable housing to participation in team sports. He's also the representative of the WHO-affiliated Stop TB (tuberculosis) foundation. He's also been married to the same woman for 14 years and has four kids. 2. So much love for this man. I have the fondest memories of growing up and watching him play with Real Madrid. Even though I love Raul (<33333) nearly just as much, something about watching Guti's playing style/personality on the pitch ~spoke to me. His situational awareness, intelligence, instinct, passes, creativity, technical ability, and sassy-ness on the pitch...ugh...I could go on forever. Some haters will hate on Guti, I'll defend him to the bitter end.
