The 2009-2010 DFB Pokal officially kicked off with first round matches held from July 31st to August 3rd all across Deutschland. Mostly it was as to be expected, with the big Bundesliga teams sweeping aside the competition, but there were some SHOCKING UPSETS. The full results and pictures behind the cut.

With bonus Sami Hyypiä bringing his amazing wonderful self to the Bundesliga, and for all you sad scousers out there who could do with some Sami.
The biggest surprise was probably Hannover 96 being knocked out by Regionalliga West side Eintracht Trier, as well as newly promoted Mainz being eliminated by Lubeck. Other surprises included Hertha being forced into extra time by Regionalliga West club Preussen Munster before clinching their win. Elsewhere, the results were pretty much to be expected. ETA: It has been brought to my attention that I have neglected to mention Fortuna Dusseldorf's stalwart display against HSV. Mistake rectified! :)
Check out your friendly local VfB Stuttgart website for a full list of results.
