Here's your daily Spanish press transfer shit storm and trust me, today it's GOOD...


Apparently, Valencia has now decided they don't want to sell David Villa after putting him on the market last month. Villa's agent is not amused. This makes me think that Señor Bitchface's decision wasn't really to stay at Mestalla.

The David Villa saga appears to have taken a huge twist this afternoon with reports in Spain claiming that Valencia have declared he is no longer for sale.

The forward was thought to be on the verge of a move to Real Madrid but this looks to be in doubt now and he could stay on at the Mestalla.

Marca reports that the news filtered in this morning when Villa's agent Jose Luis Tamargo met with Valencia president Manuel Llorente to discuss a move to Madrid.

The intention of Tamargo was to start from scratch and to try and reach a deal that both Valencia and Madrid could agree on.

However, the outcome of the meeting was very different as Llorente told him that Villa is not for sale to any club.

Speaking immediately afterwards to Sport, Tamargo explained that "they have changed their idea. Now they say that they do not want to sell and he does not have a price, so they have told me".

Tamargo is now set to release a statement within the next few hours explaining in full the situation of the Valencia striker.

Villa himself is currently in Spain with the national team as they prepare for their next Confederations Cup match with South Africa this weekend.

He has apparently been told about the decision by Valencia but it is not known what his reaction has been.


In other, even more lol-worthy news, Manchester United is apparently set to put in a bid for Iker Casillas. I'm the farthest thing from a madridista but the thought makes my stomach churn.

As much as I wanted Villa to come to Real, I have a ton of love and respect for him that I just want him to be happy playing where ever he is. I always admired his faithfullness to Valencia and I think he will remain a world class player for whomever he plays for.

As for Iker, as completely and utterly loco the idea of him actually transferring, part of me wants him to learn english (more than what Pepe "taught" him). With that said, I would rather gorge out my eyes with ice picks than see him play for Manchester United.

I think in an ideal world Villa would stay at Valencia- the more strong teams La Liga has, the better it is as a league. Any team that can provide competition to Madrid and Barcelona is a good thing.

I've been reading rumors that Villa is about to leave Valencia (and David Silva as well) since I started following football three years ago. Reading his interviews, I aways got the impression that he doesn't really want to go- the decisive factor is Valencia's money situation- he doesn't have much of a choice on the matter, he is subject to the whims of people and institutions above his head.

I'm really trying not to take any of these rumors too seriously- if they were all true, half the players would have been sold three times over. Whatever happens, I'll just have to live with.

I don't think Villa ever wanted to leave valencia but I think when he felt forced to make a decision he made one and told his agent which other team he'd like to play for.

It's sort of like how Fernando would have probably stayed with Atleti forever if he could but he felt he had to leave so he picked one club he'd be willing to move for because he had to.
