weekend news (and matches)

Chatter from the sidelines

Pictures
Bundesliga
Bayern Munich 4- 0 FC Köln

Bayern Munich got their 1000th Bundesliga victory!

Looking through the pictures and all I can see is Köln being scored on and the goal scorers. No midfield or defensive battles. Why, FC Köln, why?

La Liga
Celta Vigo 1- 3 Real Madrid

Yeah, Real Madrid's express goes on. A question, is James still out injured?

“I read the part of a scientist who has to examine an alien. I found myself at ease. I imagined I had Cristiano in front of me.” – Carlo Ancelotti, who landed a cameo in the upcoming Star Trek movie

Keylor Navas put down some great saves, from what I gathered

I just love everything about this picture

Malaga 2 - 0Deportivo

Highlights of match

Premier League
West Ham 2- 1 Chelsea

I would feel sorry for Mourinho, but then I remember that he's in line for a £37 million payoff if he gets sacked. I have to be eating beans for the next month to save for a pair of boots I need. No mercy

Andy Carroll scoring against you, SMH. But West Ham have been giant killers this season so far

Chelsea got a man sent off, then one of Mourinho's personnel removed from the dig out and Mourinho himself in hot water. Oh, Mou.

Arsenal 2- 1 Everton

Forgive me, I didn't really watch this match. I had to rip back six inches of knitting. Gahhh!!!

Giroud is in fine form. Heard that Everton were down ten men and that Tim Howard kinda stunk up the joint

Koscielny beat Howard to the ball!

Leicester 1 - 0 Crystal Palace

Vardy is on fire!

Truth be told, Ranieri is just glad that Leicester ran out with a clean sheet. He promised his players a slap up meal if they kept ONE clean sheet (offered them pizza before but they weren't bothered, obviously). Now they have!

Stoke 0 - 2 Watford

What is going on with Stoke? They did really well last season, and now they seem to flopping like a fish out of water this season. I know that a couple of good players moved on but that can't be it, surely?

Goddamn it

Aston Villa 1- 2 Swansea

Ayew strikes again!

Villa is in the doldrums, tbh. The owner wants to sell the club, a lot of good players left the club- and they have tactics Tim. Oi!

OP: done! I hope this post gets through. It's my second attempt, but LJ has been acting strange. It's either down, or deleting stuff

RE: yeah, what is that?

yeah pretty much, also who wins the supporters shield/regular season league. all teams play today, although the teams that go to the playoff from the eastern conference is like 98% set. the western conference games will be exciting cause 4 teams are fighting for the last spot

I just saw that Sherwood had been sacked! As Paddy Power said, it's akin to moving furniture on the Titanic. I've seen a few people mentioning Moyes for the job, but idk if he'd go. Maybe earlier on when things were pretty bad at La Real, but their season seems to be picking up a bit now.

Navas was amazing yesterday from what I've heard. Celta were uncharacteristically poor in defence, apparently.

Did anyone else turn their stadium blue in honour of the UN's 70th anniversary or was that just us, lol?

Sherwood sacked?! Oh my. Well, I will be missing everything today, as Sunday is packed with family stuff.

Poor Tactics Tim.

Gareth Barry got sent off at the 94th minute in the Arsenal-Everton match so it barely counts.

Chelsea's mess is a little bit funny. Mourinho had it coming tbh.

I'm not thrilled by all the gay players stuff in the press. Knowing the British Press, they've probably said to the players "either we drag you out the closet like a tory peer in a public toilet, or you come out and we make it all about how lovely and tolerant we all are now" and yesterday's article was the warning shot fired to let the players know they're serious. The whole "will come out by next summer" thing just feels too vague. People don't timetable coming out; they either do it when they're ready, or they don't.

"Losing his dog in dark parks"?! Is that some euphemism I am unfamiliar with, or just "oh gosh, I was looking for my lost dog (at 2:00 am!) & suddenly there was this guy who wanted to do interesting things to me, wonder how that happened" type thing?

I like the idea that it was just something someone recommended he try while in England. "Oh, it's so quaint there! You have to try afternoon tea, oh, and fish and chips at the seaside in the rain, and London has so many lovely parks for dogging, and you absolutely must watch some morris dancing!"

[identity profile] marsyke.livejournal.com 2015-10-25 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)

I don't know how it is in England bu I'm pretty sire the Belgian press is keeping quiet about gay players when they don't want out even if some journalists know some gay players.

Unfortunately, the British Press have form with this sort of thing (http://www.independent.co.uk/news/people/kellie-maloney-made-public-announcement-after-she-was-hounded-by-newspaper-journalists-9665896.html). There's a strong feeling that Fashnu was forced out by the press too, since it was an open secret within the profession and he claimed he was offered money not to be interviewed about it. Despite everything, the tabloids still think they're above the law, and they're willing to absorb any level of fine as long as they sell enough papers to cover the cost.

I just want to post this big old load of absurd adorableness ...

Image

Because:

1) It's nice to see Mesut and Flam are STILL in their cutesy honeymoon stage
2) Hector looks like he's worried they'll get told off for messing around
3) Le Coq looks thoroughly unimpressed with their antics ... and like he's about to kill them.

How can you NOT love this lot of idiots???

[identity profile] annoyanni.livejournal.com 2015-10-26 08:59 am (UTC)(link)
Lmao everything about this is killing me for some reason
