Chelsea football fans prevent a black man from boarding a Paris metro train shortly before the Champions League fixture between Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday. The unidentified passenger attempts to squeeze on to the train, only to be pushed forcefully back on to the platform at the Richelieu-Drouot station. The fans then chant: 'We're racist, we're racist and that's the way we like it'

Real talk though: A lot of club ultras employ racist chants to throw opposing players of color off their game, and will insist they're not racist but only doing their part for their club. Like, the racism problem is so huge that IDK if shaming Chelsea will do anything. Even now, the club has taken a stance of "we don't condone this" but watch them do absolutely nothing, like every other club before them.

(Don't get me wrong, it's important to bring these incidents to light for awareness, but seeing FIFA/UEFA stamp "Say No To Racism" everywhere and pat themselves on the back like they're fixing a problem is really depressing too.)

Well, Chelsea is apparently banning those fans from games, cooperating with police, etc. I agree this isn't on them -- your club "chooses" you, but once they do, they can't get rid of you apparently =_=

This was some random dude on the metro who just wanted to get home, though, not an opposition player. There's literally no context to his gross behaviour other than "because they're racist assholes". ETA: Not that I condone it in games, of course. Just. Like, what the actual fuck did this guy do to you?

Supposedly, Chelsea is the worst of the lot when it comes to London -- and with Fullham, apparently. It might just be the area of London they historically represented. I know a lot of clubs like Arsenal and Tottenham and their fans usually go out of their way to stamp out this type of behaviour. Though supposedly there was an incidence of violence/racism after the last NL Derby a few weeks ago.

Lol seriously. I mean, no wonder a good portion of the population thinks that football fans are out of control assholes if they're behaving like this. I thought Chelsea would be better about it since all of Mou's comments about them being too quiet at Stamford Bridge because they're all too uppity middle-class lol guess they showed me. -_-

And that's what makes this so much worse. This isn't a PSG supporter, this is literally just some guy trying to get on the metro and they're being racist fucking pricks.

This is 100% true. We have the worst record when it comes to racism/hooliganism. They don't seem to care if you're a supporter or not, either, so long as you're not white/a minority in some way.

I think the one thing Americans have down in terms of sports (if anything =_=) is that most of us understand that trash-talking a rival team is part of being a fan, but you got to be decent to other people. I went to university in a city which is the major rival of the (American) football team of my hometown, and other than some good-natured ribbing, no one was ever mean to me about it.

Apparently after the NL derby, a black Arsenal fan ran into some hot-headed (read: racist) Spurs fans and then some police brutality. But then he mentioned that both Arsenal *AND* Spurs fans went out of their way to help him because stamping out racism and being a decent human being > your club affiliation.

Anyway, I'm sorry for anything that has happened to you :( No one deserves to be on the end of that bullshit. It's unfortunate because the club can't control people, but fans also inadvertently represent the club and it's like... you think this looks good for Chelsea? Or do you just not fucking care? I'm glad it seems like they're taking a strong stand and banning trash from ever coming to the stadium again and cooperating with police. Good riddance.

I swear whenever I catch a glimpse of a Chelskeet home match, 95% of the fans are like white bachelor-looking dudes. Rarely do I see a big chunk of women and children like with United or Arsenal. Hate to sound like I'm trying to generalize a fan base >.
