In 'your favs disappointing you' news...

Marco Reus fined 540,000 euros for driving without a license for 3 years

source : bild article sadly behind paywall but posted in a tumblr post

e: apparently he also received five speeding tickets during that time, but no-one ever noticed he didn't have a license o_O

e2: someone from reddit translated a quote from the man himself:

He took driving lessons when he was 18 but never took a driving test. He just decided to drive without a licence. "Sadly I decided to take this route. I can't even comprehend the reasons myself. Now I know: I was too naive and it was stupid. I have learnt my lesson. It will never happen again."

e3: can't believe it took me so long to remember his nickname is Rolls Reus.

yeah. i am disappoint :/

You are right and it's incredibly stupid. But I have been driving since 2008 and I never had to show my license as I never did something wrong. If you are in an accident or if they do alcohol controls you need to have your license with you but it's not like you run into those every week.

Idk where you are from, but where I am from, you can get pulled over for random checks. Not every week of course, but I have been pulled over in the past when I have been driving within the speed limit and not recklessly at all, merely for licence checks and at this time of year, breathalyser checks. If you drive without a licence here, it's a big deal - you can get fined on the spot/I think another poster mentioned you have to go to a police station in a slotted amount of time to prove you have a licence, or perhaps jail time/banned from driving. That's why it's a strange concept to me, as I always have my licence with me.

Well me too. You have to have your license with you but in reality you rarely need it. Although I have to say that breathalyser checks are getting used more and more. So the chances rise.
But in fact last week a woman was killed in a truck accident and the police found out that his license was confiscated 3 years ago. But somehow he managed to drive around for so long without getting caught.
