Real Madrid step up their interest in David de Gea: HERE
(No, please. I like him in Manchester United. He's doing a great job and is the starting GK there. Why would he give that up to warm the bench for Iker?)
Arsenal consider Asier Illaramendi as an alternative to Sami Khedira: HERE
(Hmmm, I'd rather have Khedira with us because we need a DM like, now. Plus, there's an entire German contingent, including Bug Eyes, waiting to welcome him with open arms.)
And speaking of Khedira, practically every club still wants him: HERE
Hugo Lloris also on Madrid's radar: SOURCE DE JOURNALISTIC INTEGRITY
(Loving these Iker replacement rumors.)
Manchester City make £10 million-a-year offer in bid to snap up Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United target Marco Reus: HERE
(As long as he doesn't go to Chelsea or warms the bench at the Etihad. Can he just pull a Jens Lehmann and Rosicky and just come to Arsenal?)
According to Rat-Face, Real Madrid was interested in signing him: HERE
(Well, well, well.)
Chelsea is interested in Antonio Rudiger as replacement for John Terry: HERE
(Wait, what? He's an Arsenal fan! He should come to us!)
Forgot to add this priceless one:
Madrid are looking at prodigiously buttocked Eden Hazard as a replacement for
(Nope. I'm quite certain that won't happen. Mou's not gonna give up Hazard, his protege to Real Madrid and Flo isn't gonna sell a player for whom he paid 100 million euros. It doesn't make sense.)
Some of this information has been posted at Hala Madrid as well.
Nooo, don't do it De Gea
Date: 2014-11-05 08:39 am (UTC)Illarramendi might be a good buy for Arsenal -- I remember him impressing at Real Sociedad that's why Real Madrid snatched him up, and Ancelotti said that Illarramendi's problem was the fact that Ancelotti wasn't choosing him. I'd rather Illarramendi beat feet while he can instead of going the way of Granero (sold off to an EPL club who got relegated and then went back to Real Sociedad who are in effing free fall right now).
For all of Suarez's effery, he's a goal scoring machine, so I won't disbelieve him when he says Real Madrid wanted to sign him. Madrid has the whole "Gotta get them all!" Pokeman attitude that's alarming.
I hope Reus doesn't leave. But football is a business and you have to look after yourself.
Great post, OP!
RE: Nooo, don't do it De Gea
Date: 2014-11-05 08:53 am (UTC)And United might be in the 10th place in the PL now but they're Manchester fucking United. I can't imagine why de Gea would leave especially when he's the like, the best player on the team right now (apart from Dobby) and being lauded for his excellent form...it's ridiculous.
As for Illarramendi, like I said in the post, I'd prefer Khedira over him, but in some ways, he's perfect for Arsenal. He's young, needs playing time, is a solid DM (which we need) and Grandpere could develop him into a world class footballer which is what he does with young players.
Re: Nooo, don't do it De Gea
Date: 2014-11-05 09:22 am (UTC)IA! You get football action week in, week out. You're getting coaching and the opportunity to see what works to finesse your goalie style. Especially with van Gaal. I know that van Gaal's results are middling at the moment, but he's a coach who builds for the future, trains his players well. Bayern Munich still use the protocols that he implemented when he was there way back when. Barcelona as well. de Gea has had specific coaching by United since Alex Ferguson and is growing in stature. Why go to Real Madrid to be third in line- after Casillas and Navas? Especially since Casillas has fired a shot across the bows that he intends to stay between the sticks until he's 40? (Trust me, that was intentional)

Yeah, the great thing with younger players is that you can buy 'em low and sell 'em high. They also have the benefit of open to being malleable when it comes to training methods and coaching (and if they're not, they are frozen out on the margins). In addition, they tend not to have the pressures of long term spouses guiding their decision- like Sanchez passing on Liverpool for Arsenal at the time because his partner preferred London to Liverpool - if they had to leave Barcelona. With the younger ones, they want to play, and realise that there are rungs up the ladder and you have to do a certain amount of service to get there. Yes, even if it's coming to sodding Liverpool.
The thing with Real Madrid though, you get the feeling that once an active player leaves- unless it's for a comparatively prestigious team- it feels like a step down in their career (which is why I think Ronaldo will retire there). I look at Esteban Granero and shudder.
With Khedira and Özil (particularly since he hasn't set the Premier League on fire) there's that tag, unlike say, Illaramendi, who seems to be on the fringes, only coming out when the game is wrapped up (like that Real Madrid -Barcelona game when they were three up, and ten minutes on the clock). I can see how coming to Arsenal might be good for Illaramendi, but Real Madrid is Real Madrid. When it comes to football brands, Real Madrid is the sexiest out of all of them, as well as the weather, and the easy life of training and not playing. That might make him not want to leave.

Date: 2014-11-05 09:45 am (UTC)True. Ilarramendi might be great where he is, and more power to him. But it's telling that James, who came after him, slotted into the starting XI. That Kroos, slotted into the starting XI and all three of them came after he did. That baby Isco is now sniffing at that starting XI. They say you only get match sharp when you're playing matches, but yeah, we will see! For all of the downsides of living in England (the weather) the PL is still a good experience for a player, even if you want to go back to La Liga in the end.

Date: 2014-11-05 07:25 pm (UTC)But he has a lot of injury problems so maybe they better go for a fit player.
The keeper question is always a difficult one. Either you go to a big club when their GK retires or you go and have to fight it out, one will always lose though and that's sad.

Nahhhhhhhh.
Call me when there's a new RB or LB in our radar.
