Obviously I don't need to hash out all the reasons why Mr. Capello's conception of citizenship and national identity is lacking insight and thoughtfulness, but let's just say even if there is such a thing as "stealing" a grown-ass man who makes his own decision about which NT to play for...wouldn't Turkey calling up Sahin, Altintop et. al. also be "stealing" in a sense?* Because the German infrastructure developed them as players and then they played for another federation as adults? Every time the Turkish NT makes money off a poster with Altintop's glittering perfect white teeth on it they're depriving the German people of the dividends of their healthcare tax dollars but not their eyebrow waxers' tax dollars lololol amirite
