England's 2018 World Cup bid is set to receive a boost with FIFA expected to award its proposal higher marks than that of its key rivals.

After a month of media-related setbacks, Wednesday's publication of FIFA's technical reports will reflect positively on the majority of areas in England's bid.

Despite the encouraging news, FIFA has raised concerns in their inspection report over hotels and training facilities and will draw attention to four contractual areas where government guarantees are not currently met.

Overall, FIFA is understood to be satisfied with England's bid and has categorised it as a low risk, along with those of rivals Spain and Portugal, and Russia.

With two weeks of campaigning left, the race to host the 2018 World Cup looks likely to go to the wire.

There was further good news for England as rivals also came in for criticism. FIFA pinpointed Russia's transport system as a cause for concern and, for Spain and Portugal's joint bid, FIFA raised fears over security issues.

West Ham vice-chair Karren Brady, who is head of the 2018 advisory board, is confident the publication of the reports will stand England's bid in good stead.

"Our hope is that the executive committee's vote is based purely around sporting credentials," she said. "If that is the case, we know we have a very strong chance. If it is based solely on that, we should win on December 2."

Part of the consideration might be terrorist attacks, which sadly, Spain has had many more of than Brazil, from several different groups. (Though the same would apply to England, so maybe not.) :/

The bid looks super professional. I'm really curious to see what FIFA has to say tomorrow.

We'll probably still lose even after being the best because...come on...we always manage to cock things up.

But still. COME ON INGERLUND.

YES! We better bloody get it. Come on, 1966 was a long motherfucking time ago. It's time, already. (and I was too young to really appreciate Euro '96)

It would be so unbelievably awesome if we did get it in 2018, but I have a horrible feeling we won't - just because Sepp Blatter is involved, and he hates us.

Omg we'd better get this shit.

I'll be 28, nearly 29 in 2018 though. Yikes.
