Inter Goalkeeper Julio Cesar Has Injury Concern Ahead Of Champions League Clash With Tottenham

Inter goalkeeper Julio Cesar is concerned an injury he sustained during the 1-0 win over Genoa on Friday could force him to miss the Champions League clash at Tottenham next week.

"I am sorry for my injury. I was really well and focussed. Lets hope well, I will have a scan," he told the press after the game.

"I can feel it, I put some ice on the injury, and I hope its nothing serious."

The win arrived via an unlikely source in substitute Sulley Muntari.

"It was fundamental to beat Genoa ahead of our Champions League match," added the Brazilian. "Now we have to focus on that, we want to win our group."

Benitez: "We showed great character"

GENOA - After Friday night's match between Genoa and Inter, Rafa Benitez commented on his team's 1-0 win and also spoke about the injury situation.

"Lucio limped off at the end but he is fine. Cambiasso and Julio Cesar will have to undergo tests and then we will see," said the Spanish coach.

"It was a difficult game tonight against a team that did well and never stopped attacking, but we showed character.

"There were five or six situations in which we could have done better, but it still went well tonight. However, we have to be more incisive.

"Biabiany improving? He always finds more spaces away from home. Milito? It was obviously an idea to bring him on, but with the injuries it wasn't possible.

"Who will I be supporting out of Milan and Juventus tomorrow night? I always prefer to support Inter (smiles). Would a draw be good. Yes, it could be..."

Davide Santon stepped in for the injured Cristian Chivu and played from start to finish in Friday night's 1-0 win at Genoa.

"It was a very important victory tonight," the young full-back told Sky Sport Italia. "I'm feeling good and I'm glad to have played from the first minute. My legs were a bit heavy but playing for ninety minutes did me good.

"The intensity of Genoa's play made it a bit hard for us, especially in the last twenty minutes when four of their players were attacking. Even Dainelli advanced."

The win puts Inter within striking distance of leaders Lazio and a point above AC Milan who host Juventus tomorrow night. "We're not thinking about the other teams," said Santon. "The only important thing was to win tonight."

Maicon feels that Inter's win at Genoa is worth double the points. "It was a great victory," the Brazilian told Inter Channel. "It's always hard for us away to Genoa and it wasn't easy to play a great game because Genoa are well organised. These three points that are worth six.

"We have to congratulate Sulley (Muntari) because he changed the game. He made the team play towards the opposing goal and he scored a brilliant goal."

Maicon was the first player to approach Julio Cesar when the Inter goalkeeper pulled up with a muscular injury. "He pulled a muscle in the back of his leg and it was better to stop because we have a very important game against Tottenham next Tuesday and he wants to be there," explained the right-back.

Jonathan Biabiany gave a further glimpse of his talents in Friday night's 1-0 victory over Genoa.

"I had more chances to show what I can do today," said the French youngster. "I had the space to counter-attack and make fast runs, but Genoa attacked in numbers. Sometimes the last pass was missing and we tried to kill off the game at the start of the second half, but they kept playing long balls to Toni."

Biabiany went close to scoring against the Rossoblu after a pass from Sneijder, but was thwarted by Eduardo. "I trapped the ball but as soon as I lowered my gaze the goalkeeper was already on the ball."

Luca Castellazzi made a couple of vital saves in his old stadium after coming on for the injured Julio Cesar against Genoa.

"There were a few insults and boos, but it went well," said the former Sampdoria keeper after Inter's 1-0 win against the Rossoblu. "We defended well and earned three important points.

"I always try to do my best when I'm needed, but I obviously wish Julio Cesar a speedy recovery."

Javier Zanetti spoke on Inter Channel after captaining the Nerazzurri to victory at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris. "It was very important to win in yet another difficult away game against Genoa after those at Palermo and Cagliari," said the Argentine.

Zanetti explained his on-pitch discussion with match ref Luca Banti: "I always want to win and when there's something I don't understand, I ask the referee."

Esteban Cambiasso came off in the 19th minute with what looked like an aggravation of the injury he sustained while on international duty. "These injuries are the things that limit us the most," remarked Zanetti. "We have some important games ahead of us and we need everyone. Cambiasso felt pain in the same place. Let's hope the exams confirm that the situation is under control."

Maicon and I had the same expression on our face the 1st half. You can ask people they saw me SMH a lot at this mess of an Inter team tbqh

Samu pulled up a couple of times, grabbing for his Achilles. Just what Inter needs, ANOTHER INJURY!!!!!! No word yet on if he's hurt or anything ~*you never know in Serie A*~

Muntari scored on a "Robert Green" honestly. Inter are very lucky to have come away with 3 points. It wasn't really deserved imo but so what who cares!

Cuchu had to be subbed out really early. SIGH. ANOTHER INJURY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I doubt he plays against Spurs. We'll find out more today on how bad it is.

COUTINHO!!! was just alright. It was a hard game for him, he got pushed around quite a bit. An 18 year old can't be a superstar ~every~ match.

Pupi salutes the fans after a hard win. This puts Inter 1 point back of leaders Lazio. Big matches in Serie A this weekend are Lazio vs Palermo and OFC MILAN VS JUVE TODAY

I'm ok with you winning all the other games in your group and getting through, I just couldn't cope with the english press slagging off Rafa if you beat Inter. I STILL LOVE HIM OK?!
