First, I apologize that I am treading on [livejournal.com profile] zzzo 's Korean fiercene
ss, but this article was important and I'm sure even the they would approve of spreading the news.

The World Cup qualifier in South Korea turned into anti-government protest on part of Islamic republic's national team players, who wore green wristbands to show their support for defeated presidential candidate

The team suffered a different kind of blow with the South Korean team's equalizer just before the end of the match, which badly harmed their chances of taking part in the World Cup next summer.

Iranians in Seoul are taking advantage of a World Cup football qualifier to denounce their government amid allegations of election rigging at home.

Here is a current shortlist of cities the USSF has asked for WC hosting proposals.
Here is the current US Open Cup bracket - a PDL team is still kicking around in there, impressive. Sadly, my Cleveland team lost, thus denying me the opportunity of a Battle for Ohio, but there's a Sounders/Portland game (played at Portland) and that shit will be ~crayzay~ even though Timber Jim isn't doing his thing anymore.

From Madrid insists that the only hope is David Villa signed for Real. Pero si no ha cambiado de opinión, esa no era su intención hace unos años But if it has not changed his mind, that was not his intention a few years ago.

On February 18, 2005, the web Portalsportinguista.com did an interview with David Villa.Much of the interview, in fact, were questions that were users of the web, many of them referring to Sporting and Zaragoza, in the time machine that played the Asturian.

At the end of the interview, however, had a quick test with questions. The first, when asked directly "Barça or Madrid? and he does not hesitate to respond that "Barça".And second, when asked Pele or Maradona and do not hesitate to respond "Maradona."

In addition, the striker has never hidden that most players who have marked are two Asturians and, curiously, the two went through the boat: Quini and Luis Enrique.

We do not know where to play next season, David Villa, but what is less clear, as we intend to sell from Madrid, is that only has eyes for Real ...

This is just so random, I had to post it.

It's in really low quality, but I can't get over how Lehmann didn't know that Marin was a German Player. I think he says something about how when Marko came over to him, he thought he was some kind of tailor for the clothes?

Also if you have no idea who this kid is..first, shame on you.
Second, I think it's time for you to get acquainted:
I want him to go to a big non-German club sooooo badly.

Also, I fail at ljcuts.

Milan face the very real possibility of sending Ahly Cissokho back to Porto and scrapping the move for him following a problem which has emerged regarding his teeth, according to Sky Sport Italia.

The Rossoneri were due to announce the conclusion of the deal for the stopper on Tuesday, but club doctor Jean-Pierre Meersseman has requested a further medical after what should have been his final examination revealed new concerns over the player's teeth.

The report suggests Cissokoho will have another medical at Milan Lab later this afternoon and it is here where a final decision will be made as to whether he joins the club or not.

Vice president Adriano Galliani is expected to be present at the medical and an official announcement is expected to arrive within the next few hours. Cissokho's entourage are also in Milan and they are concerned.

Massimo Ambrosini's agent was set to meet Galliani today over the midfielder's future, but that move has slipped following the Cissokho drama.

Milan need to brush up on their player choices.

Villa knows his preferred destination

David Villa has revealed that he has made his decision regarding his future and that his agent is currently working to resolve it.

His comments come in the wake of Spain's 1-0 victory over Iraq in the Confederations Cup this evening which takes them through to the semi-finals.

Villa grabbed the only goal of the match in the second-half and was questioned afterwards about his future and if he was thinking about it.

"I only have one decision. My agent already knows what that is and he is working towards it. I am relaxed here," AS quote him as saying.

Asked whether there is any date by which he will resolve his future, Villa replied "I have no idea",
before talking about the game this afternoon.

"Iraq closed down a lot, with a line of five defenders and four midfielders in front. That made it difficult to receive balls," he explained.

"We knew therefore that we would have to take advantage of the chances we had and we did. Although it is true we could have scored more.

Villa also looked ahead to the rest of the tournament, explaining that whoever they face in the next round will be tough.

"Whoever goes out goes out, it will still be difficult, but we want to win the tournament and show that we are better than the other seven teams, he said.

Man U-26

Looks like there will be less competition for the most wanted players in this summer's transfer window.

Man United's new 'under 26 policy' rules out the possibility of signing Villa and Ribery

Manchester United have made a long-term decision not to sign any players aged 26 or above for large transfer fees because of new financial stipulations that have been put in place at Old Trafford to shape the club's recruitment policy. Dimitar Berbatov, who was 27 when he signed from Tottenham Hotspur last September, has been described as the "last of his kind" in a move that has immediate implications for their attempts to replace Cristiano Ronaldo.

The restrictions automatically mean that Sir Alex Ferguson's admiration for Franck Ribéry will not manifest itself in a concerted attempt to sign the France international. Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Bayern Munich's chairman, said yesterday that United, Chelsea and Barcelona had all lodged bids but the Premier League champions say that is not true.

Instead, the policy from now onwards is that the club will have a strict age-before-ability approach in which they will sign players in big-money deals only if they will retain a significant market value some years after signing a five- or six-year contract. Read more... )

Let’s be frank: much of this is more sour grapes due to Rossi’s supreme skill versus the relative lack in the US and less principle. Were he, say, Simone Pepe, no one could bother to stop a moment and care. Does England gripe about WC winner Simone Perrotta born outside Manchester? Nope, but it’s the exact same situation. Born in England to parents who’d relocated merely for employment purposes and now back playing football for the country of his blood. (He’s even got that whole name ends in a vowel thing.) People make fun of France for poaching Africa, but it’s often shrugged off because these players have the chance to play for a superior team. Same case here.
