Arsenal no longer loathe Spurs as much, West Ham don't hate Millwall and Chelsea have become the new Man United...

Tottenham's long-suffering fans haven't had much to shout about in recent seasons.

Since the Premier League's inception in 1992, the club have never finished higher than fifth and have added just two League Cups to their dust-gathering trophy cabinet.

It might be a little harsh to suggest they're an irrelevance, but they certainly have been when it comes to challenging for major honours in the Premier League era.

And now north London rivals Arsenal have rubbed salt in the wound by naming Chelsea - alongside Spurs - as the club they dislike the most.

In a survey of the capital's supporters conducted by Football Fans Census, Chelsea topped the list as the team London fans love to hate, but followers of Tottenham will be dismayed to learn that they are no longer considered Arsenal's main rivals anymore.

Despite Arsenal's growing indifference to their north London neighbours, West Ham fans voted for the boys from White Hart Lane as the team they dislike most with more than double the votes of second-placed Chelsea.

That particular rivalry appears to be one-way however, with Tottenham naming Chelsea and Manchester United as the teams they dislike most - after the Gunners.

But although a section of Arsenal's support now no longer consider the traditional rivalry with Spurs relevant, their own fading fortunes have ensured they're no longer regarded by Chelsea as a main rival.

Fans of the west London club have now turned their attention to the big boys of English football, Liverpool and Manchester United - with Tottenham given an honourable mention in third-place.

West Ham's grudge against Sheffield United (for their opposition to the dodgy Carlos Tevez) shows no signing of going away with the Yorksshire club appearing third on their list, ahead of traditional rivals Millwall.

Not a clue.

Actually, If I gave all my reasons I think would be castrated, crucified, and then expelled from the community. But, I rather like it here so I shall keep these details to myself.

What has the world come to?

i feel like even chelsea hate isn't as strong as it used to be, like three or four years ago. certainly around the beginning of the jose days when they were trying to buy stevie i was so full of rage, lmao.

i think now people have sort of accepted them as truly respectable forces in the league (not that they weren't but they've proved that roman's money was actually worthwhile and not just a flash in the pan) so it's not so much hate anymore but more like...grudging respect.

I can definitely understand why our Chelsea hate has gone up, but somehow I find it funny. To hate Chelsea as much as Tottenham... Strange. But good to know Spurs people still hate us. xD

i can understand why the chelsea hate arose but the Arsenal/Spurs thing is down to North London rivalry Sp*ds have more of a problem with Arsenal than the other way round. From a playing point of view the teams r miles apart. Spurs used to comfort themselves with the fact that while they didn't win as much as Arsenal, cuz we played the better football. Over the last few years they haven't even been able to say that. The fact they're getting excited about the uefa cup or imagining they will finish in the top 4 says everything.

as a girl from highbury i experienced the hate and enjoyed it. but i used to hate the manure more but the rivalry has gone weak, spurs r just pathetic and annoying, liverpool idc about them..never have, i don't know who i hate the most anymore : /
