Normally, I'd judge the bystanders that don't interfere, but considering the physicality of it, the drunkenness and the threatening behaviour of these people, I can't blame people for not engaging them. Although I do think someone on that train could have used the emergency brake.
Where do you live? Drunk British people are one of the most scary groups. You just hope they won't see you and pray for the police when you see them.
Using emergency brake can make them even more angry idk about Paris but in Warsaw we have information how we can send text messeges in some trains/buses etc. so maybe it's like this also there.
