But Khedira is very sharp-minded. I am not so sure about Hummels either; AFAIK he hasn't been a leader before? And while he seems to have a lot of self-confidence, he also is rather... tactless? Not in a bad way, mind.
Neuer would do all-right-ish but I find myself thinking he's not missing captaining Schalke at all. And Howedes as much as I adore him wouldn't want the pressure. If you asked him to be captain he'd do it graciously but I think he has his hands full with his club.
Per wouldn't be a bad choice per se but he's not a guaranteed starting XI anymore. Which from the old guard leaves... Podolski.
