Fernando Torres to be sold by Chelsea FC this summer?

£50million record signing Fernando Torres could reportedly be sold by Chelsea this summer

The striker is yet to score for the Blues following his move from Liverpool in January and missed several good chances when coming off the bench during Saturday's 1-0 win against Wigan in the Premier League.

The Spain international is yet to get back to the kind of form he displayed when he first joined Liverpool from Atletico Madrid and according to the Mail on Sunday, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is considering selling the big-money flop at the end of the season.

Abramovich paid the record sum for Torres in the hope that he would make the club a force in Europe as he looks to finally win the Champions League.

But Chelsea's defeat to Manchester United in the first leg of their quarter-final in the Champions League last week has reportedly led to the Russian's patience wearing thin.

A Chelsea insider told the newspaper: "I know the owner is not happy with his investment. He could even sell Torres in the summer, despite having just bought him."

Several La Liga sides were interested in signing Torres prior to his move to Stamford Bridge and it is believed that a move to Spain would be the likely scenario for the striker should Abramovich decide to sell, although how much of the £50m he will be able to claw back remains to be seen.
